PALO! -the Grammy and Latin Grammy nominated group- has been a staple of the Miami local scene since 2003, when leader and founder Steve Roitstein invited fellow musicians to join him in an improvised musical experiment combining Cuban music with Latin Jazz and Funk beats.
Hailed by the Miami New Times as Best Band in 2012 (Readers’ Choice) and Best Latin Band in 2014, PALO! performs their own style of Tropical music called “Afro-Cuban Funk”, a unique, danceable sound that blends the allure of Cuban music with funky beats and jazzy improvisation.
The current lineup includes Steve Roitstein on keyboards, the incredible vocals of charismatic Cuban singers Miriam Martinez, Dannah Santiago and Julio Cesar, the scorching percussion of Dayron Gallardo and Otto Santana and Latin Jazz saxophonist Aldo Salvent.
Founding members of PALO! include Leslie Cartaya (lead vocals), Ed Calle (sax), Philbert Armenteros (percussion, vocals), and Raymer Olalde (percussion, vocals).
